We are looking for a collaborative leader who will support CMHA National to meet our strategic priority of strengthening our Federation to meet the mission and vision of the Canadian Mental Health Association. Reporting to the National CEO, the role will require listening to and engaging the Divisions, Branches and Regions of CMHA to ensure there is clarity in our roles and that we are maximizing the value of working together as a Federation.

You are an ideal candidate if you are a skilled facilitator able to build trust and take a servant leadership approach to your work. You have a proven track record of building consensus among a diverse group of stakeholders, are highly processed-oriented, and are a strategic leader.

Location: The role is based out of the CMHA National office in Toronto although staff are currently working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Strengthen the Federation:
    a. Develop and implement a strategy for strengthening the federation through consultation and listening, building on the work of our Nationwide Strategic Plan and our National Office Theory of Change.
    b. Develop and support a learning and capacity building strategy for the Federation based on a needs analysis.
    c. With the National office team, deliver the national conference and other learning opportunities.
    d. Building on our Division agreements, develop standards and operating practices with and for the Federation.
    e. Develop the value proposition for the National office.
  2. Engagement strategy for the National Office:
    a. Develop and implement an engagement strategy for the National Office to better work with and support the Divisions, Branches and Regions.
  3. Stakeholder engagement and relationship management:
    a. Maintain and build relationships throughout the CMHA Federation (Divisions, Branches/Regions) to build capacity and trust.
  4. Senior leadership and collaboration:
    a. Develop and implement objectives, work plans and metrics for areas of responsibility to ensure they are strategically focused and driven by CMHA’s mission and vision; and provide appropriate leadership and oversight to ensure success.
    b. Work closely with all National office departments to support their Federation interactions and processes.
    c. Actively take a leadership role in the management of CMHA with the CEO and National Directors.

Compensation: $100,000 – $110,000 per year commensurate with level of education, credentials, and experience; along with benefits, a flexible work environment and a workplace culture committed to personal wellbeing and psychological safety.

Working conditions: This is a full-time position, working standard office hours (currently 35 hours/week). This position functions in a normal office environment, using typical office equipment, with extended periods of sitting, telephone interaction and/or working at a computer and no unusual physical demands. During the COVID pandemic, National staff are primarily working virtually.
