National Development Coordinator, Events
Full Time Permanent Position
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated Development Coordinator, Events to join the CMHA National Fund Development team. Reporting to the National Director of Development, the Development Coordinator, Events will provide coordination and support for CMHA National’s events portfolio including:
- CMHA’s national Mental Health for All (MH4A) Conference – an annual conference for mental health professionals and community organizations that brings together 800+ delegates, presenters, keynote speakers, funders and stakeholders for 3 days
- CMHA’s Ride Don’t Hide – an annual fundraising bike ride held in seven provinces in 20+ communities
- Community giving and third-party fundraising including cause marketing, third party events and other initiatives
Location: This position will be based at our head office, located in downtown Toronto. However, until further notice, staff are working from home.
Working with the CMHA National Fund Development team, the CMHA National implementation teams, a conference planning consultant group, and 25+ event coordinators from across the country:
- You will focus on project management for the MH4A Conference and providing support and on all aspects of Ride Don’t Hide and other signature and third-party events.
- This includes event logistics and planning; prospecting, securing and stewarding sponsorships; donor and committee relations; donor-centered engagement and development; technical and logistical support on a peer to peer fundraising and event registration platform such as Donor Drive, and more.
- You will represent CMHA as the first point of contact for dozens of internal and potentially thousands of external stakeholders.
- Lead and project manage the MH4A Conference including coordination with and oversight of an external consultant to manage logistics and planning, convening and supporting an internal implementation team to manage all aspects of conference communications and promotions, content and programming, and evaluation.
- Provide logistical support and technical expertise to 25+ CMHA branches participating in Ride Don’t Hide across the country, on all aspects of the event – logistics and planning; sponsorship; marketing and communications; design and marketing collateral; corporate, school and team programs; rider and donor engagement, conversion and stewardship; and the peer to peer fundraising and registration platform.
- Maintain Ride Don’t Hide event infrastructure including reporting; creation and maintenance of information resources; the Ride Don’t Hide website and online P2P platform; content generation and management; and more.
- Act as point person for all cause marketing, community giving and third-party fundraising inquiries, fielding requests for information, providing support and guidance, following up and reporting, all while adhering to internal policies, CRA regulations, and best practices.
- Develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (CMHA National, CMHA federation, participating and prospective CMHA branches, local event coordinators and committee members, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, participants, donors, ambassadors, etc.)
- Use a high degree of creativity and attention to detail to a key role in the development of marketing/promotional material including stakeholder newsletters, meeting packages, event participant communications, sponsorship packages, etc.
- Coordinate sponsor lead generation and outreach activities to support development and growth of event sponsorship revenue and gift-in-kind donations.
- Post-secondary education in event management or fundraising with an events background, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- 2-3 years working experience in event management or fundraising preferably in a multi-level organization within diverse communities, coordinating and supporting multiple-location and/or large-scale events.
- Project management certification or experience, with knowledge of project management principles and excellent time management skills for a shifting, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated experience in overseeing tasks of others and working effectively with others to achieve the best results. Problem-solving skills, diplomacy, and flexibility that allows you to work with high energy, goal-oriented and creative people.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication, relationship management, and presentation skills. Ability to speak to groups of people in a variety of settings and to communicate effectively and professionally with third party vendors and agents. A sense of humour helps.
- Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills. Flexibility with changing priorities and ability to remain focused to meet targeted timelines. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and on various tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel), working knowledge of WordPress CMS and basic HTML, experience in using databases and ability to be able to train on databases; and the ability to learn and adapt to new technology, and familiarity with peer-to-peer principles and technologies
- Bilingualism (French and English) would be a considerable asset.
Compensation & benefits: $60,000 + full benefits plan after three months along with a flexible work environment.
