National Council of Persons with Lived Experience (NCPLE) Coordinator
Part Time, Contract Position (3 days per week)
The NCPLE is an advisory body to the CMHA National Board of Directors that works with all levels of the organization advocating for the meaningful engagement of persons with lived experience (PWLE).
Position Summary: With dual reporting to the National CEO and NCPLE Chair, the NCPLE Coordinator supports the Council’s work within CMHA and is the liaison between the NCPLE and CMHA management. The Coordinator is responsible for all administrative tasks associated with operation of Council.
Location: The National office is based in downtown Toronto but, depending on the candidate, flexible work arrangements could be made.
Responsible for all administrative tasks associated with operation of NCPLE including:
- Development and maintenance of the NCPLE policies and procedures manual.
- Planning and assisting with regular meetings of the NCPLE including sending out calendar invitations, taking minutes and following up on relevant action items as discussed.
- Administering budget associated with Council operations, producing printed materials as required and regularly updating SharePoint with news and working documents.
- Assist in developing annual NCPLE workplan, ensure CMHA policies are followed and Terms of References are adhered to.
- Act as a liaison between National staff and the NCPLE on Portfolio priority areas as part of overall strategic planning for Nationwide incorporation of initiatives, as required from time to time.
- Provide updates to NCPLE on relevant CMHA National activities/projects and news via email and at NCPLE meetings.
- Assist in implementation of the “Model for Engagement”, organize and support Council working groups for the purpose of information gathering, agenda setting and advocacy.
Education & Qualification:
- College diploma or certificate in related discipline is preferred, i.e. Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Health Promotion or related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in an administrative role.
- Lived experience of a mental illness including addictions/ substance use is essential.
- Project management experience would be an asset.
- Health care/not-for-profit experience preferred.
- Expert working knowledge using Microsoft Office product suite required.
- Health care and mental health industry knowledge is an asset.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
- High degree of emotional intelligence and excellent listening skills.
- Effectively able to work under pressure and manage change in a fast-paced environment.
- Capability to work independently or within group dynamics as required.
- Highly motivated and passionate about mental health.
- Proficient critical and analytical thinking, problem solving and judgment abilities.
- Demonstrate sound judgement with the ability to work independently and proactively seek solutions to issues as they arise.
- Service-oriented with the ability to thrive in a collaborative work environment.
- Flexibility with changing priorities and ability to remain focused to meet targeted timelines.
- Bilingual (French & English) would be an asset.
Compensation: $31,200 per year (3 days-per week) along with benefits and a flexible work environment.
