National Business Development Representative (Inside Sales)
Full-Time, Permanent Position
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated National Business Development Representative to join the CMHA National Workplace Mental Health team. Reporting to the National Senior Sales Manager you will be responsible for new sales opportunities through in-bound lead follow up and out-bound outreach efforts to secure qualified leads for introduction calls/meetings for field sales.

You bring a love of structure, process, and documentation and a prior experience in not for profit or mental health would be an asset.

Role: The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities for the sales teams to pursue. As the BDR, you will drive demand for Not Myself Today® and other WMH in a variety of ways, including further qualifying leads that have been generated by marketing; managing and qualifying inbound lead activity; engaging in prospecting and cold calling; and appointment setting. Once the lead funnel is filled, you will also follow up and close leads that the field team is not able to target.
Responsibilities:
- Prospect and account research to prepare for calls; using social media tools to monitor targeted accounts.
- Interpret data from marketing leads to personalize outbound communications.
- Perform targeted cold calls, emails, and other sales activities to schedule discoveries/demos.
- Maintain high call volumes (25 outbound calls per day), and running ongoing cadences with multiple social media outreaches.
- Qualify leads & follow up on prospects for further nurturing using phone, email and social channels.
- Leverage inbound leads and outbound activities through proactive and creative prospecting.
- Consult with customers to understand the needs and goals to best align them with the appropriate solution, resources, or internal teams for follow-up.
- Reach out multiple times to each lead to drive connection and provide customer service.
- Track and manage prospecting, and nurture activities in Salesforce.
- Provide input to improve/refine lead generation process.
- Manage and close your own targeted list of customers.
- Work cross functionally and collaboratively with the CMHA National team.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years of prospecting and cold calling experience in sales, marketing or customer service
- B-to-B consultative selling experience with a hunter mindset; experience in the healthcare industry and/or wellness industry a plus
- Proficiency with marketing automation and SFA systems (Salesforce)
- Proven track record of prospecting experience with Manager and Director level staff
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Active listening to assess prospect needs and opportunities
- Natural curiosity to interface with others and ask questions; not easily intimidated by lack of knowledge or the seniority of the prospect
- Competitive and motivated; self-starter who takes initiative to achieve goals
- Team player who is coachable and has an eagerness to learn
- Desires to continue to learn, be it to further her/his career in inside sales or perhaps to move into a field position
- Bilingual (English / French) would be an asset
- Motivated and having knowledge about Mental Health would be an asset
Location: This position will be based at our office, located in downtown Toronto. To encourage collaboration and explore new ways of working, CMHA National supports a hybrid work model of 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home. However, until further notice, staff are working from home according to public health guidelines and management’s decision.
Compensation: $60,000 – $65,000 per year commensurate with experience and qualifications; along with benefits, a flexible work environment and a workplace culture committed to personal wellbeing and psychological safety.

Working conditions:
- This is a full-time position, working standard office hours (currently 35 hours/week).
- This position functions in a normal office environment, using typical office equipment, with extended periods of sitting, telephone interaction and/or working at a computer and no unusual physical demands.
- Due to the public nature of this job, there may be some challenging contacts or situations from external stakeholders.
