Tom McCarthy is a retired consultant in strategic planning, fund development and governance. He is a former CEO of a hospital foundation, a college foundation and served as a senior College Administrator and Campus Principal in Ontario. Tom is a member and former Chair of the CMHA Ontario Board and has served as chair of several not-for-profit boards, primarily in the health sector.
Tom has provided assistance to a number of CMHA Branches and is a member of two. He has worked with two CMHA nation-wide working groups – Fund Development and Governance and Organizational Review.
Tom’s interest in mental health stems from his son’s experience with serious mental health issues. He is passionate about reducing stigma, enhancing the social determinants of health and early psychosis intervention. He was part of a team that helped with start-up funding for a youth early intervention program in his community, which will form part of a national project funded by the Boeckh Foundation.
